ABOUT US

Project 2029 is a forward-looking effort to answer a defining question: What should a modern, hopeful, effective, forward-looking vision for America look like? We seek to craft a bold agenda for the nation’s future—one that meets the scale of today’s challenges and rekindles a sense of shared purpose and possibility. Our goal is to introduce ideas that make America once again a place where hard work pays off, opportunity is real, and public institutions serve as forces for progress in people’s everyday lives.

“Project 2025” put forward a sweeping, if deeply misguided, agenda of disruptive change that the Trump Administration is now implementing at breakneck speed. Resistance is not enough. The moment demands, and Americans deserve, an alternative vision—not just defending the status quo or the progress of the past, but ideas for a bolder future.

Our country faces big challenges:

  • For decades, essential costs—housing, health care, energy, and child care—have risen faster than paychecks, leaving even middle-income Americans squeezed between higher expenses and limited savings.

  • The ladder to a better life has broken down as economic mobility has slowed, education levels have fallen, and opportunity has narrowed.

  • Climate change is disrupting communities that should be benefiting from the clean-energy transition.

  • Rapid advances in technology and artificial intelligence are transforming work and industry faster than our public institutions have adapted.

  • Years of destructive governance, the outsized influence of wealthy and well-connected interests, and a failure to rethink public action for this century have weakened trust in government, leaving many Americans convinced that it is ineffective, reactive, and disconnected from the challenges of everyday life.

In a democracy and economy that worked for most Americans, Donald Trump and his agenda wouldn’t have gotten within spitting distance of the White House. Tinkering around the edges of big problems or recyling old solutions are not enough to give Americans the future they deserve.

And with the Trump Administration razing the progress and institutions of the past century, we have no choice but – and the opportunity – to build anew.

Project 2029 aims to help chart a new path forward. Our mission is to identify the most promising ideas and thinkers from across the country and build a coherent governing framework for real change and progress – focusing relentlessly on solving the problems that people face, shaping an agenda for the future, and providing a blueprint for action beginning on Day One.
